Gnathology has a long history. On one hand, the continuous improvement of our knowledge is the result of research, science, and developments. On the other hand, foundational principles were established over 100 years ago and have not been discarded. In 2024, it's time to look back and look forward. Traditional gnathology, in its purely technical approach, has become outdated. Limiting gnathology to dysfunction has proven to be ineffective. Today, modern gnathology represents an interdisciplinary approach, placing preventative, diagnostic, therapeutic, and communicative tasks among disciplines.
